Pique-nique's Unheard series celebrates musical discovery, those spontaneous moments when artists listen deeply to each other and let curiosity guide the sound. Join us for an evening of unrehearsed musical conversation, where freedom takes form and sound takes shape. For this special Unheard performance at Domino Park, Domenica will invite a group of multi-instrumentalists to create two fully improvised sets under the open sky.
Domenica is a Latin Grammy-winning flutist, singer, and bandleader from Miami, currently based in Brooklyn. The front-woman of neo-afrobeat ensemble Underground System, she is trilingual and well-acquainted with Yoruba and Ewe traditions, her knowledge of traditional African dance and original lyrics give her work an anecdotal authenticity that is entirely her own. She has worked with Marc Ribot, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, and members of Snarky Puppy, and is no stranger to Pique-nique, having appeared in our second-ever Take Two back in 2018.
Domenica (flute, vocals, electronics) // lineup to be announced…
Rain date: Friday, September 18th
Presented by Pique-nique in partnership with Domino Park, made possible thanks to the support of the Brooklyn Arts Council's Brooklyn Arts Fund.
